Designing your key tag is simple.  We always email you proofs for approval before producing the actual key tags and key rings.  We can get ideas, colours and logos from your website so the tags will fit your marketing and brand image.

You'll need to make a few practical decisions.

• Identification. First, think about whether you wish to identify your property on your key tags. Unidentified key tags offer higher security in case the tags are lost, or not returned when the guest checks out.  We usually recommend this option for new designs.  You can use part of your logo, the colour scheme of your promotional material or the logo of your chain MANZ or HAPNZ to make the key tags professional and stylish.

• Information. The front of the tag normally has a logo or design at one end and the room number at the other.  The room number can either be parallel with the tag's long edge, or ‘vertical’ so that it can be read when hanging on a key board.  How you store your key tags could influence which you prefer.

• Key return. Usually on the back of the tag there is a return address, so that any key tags taken unintentionally can be easily returned to you.  NZ Post has a key return service where unpackaged key tags dropped in a mailbox will be returned for a small fee.  Our key tag design complies with the NZ Post requirements for this service.
  
  The return address for an unidentified design should be a PO Box, which most hotel chains and trade associations have available for their members’ use. If you don’t have a PO Box you can use the Custom Tags Secure Code service. 

• Secure Code Service. This service uses Custom Tags' PO Box as the return address, including a discreet code number on the back of the tag so we know who to return it to. When a key tag is returned via this service we post it back to you and send an email notification. There is no charge for setting up the service and for each key tag returned you are invoiced $5.00 + GST.
